Are you thinking of moving or buying your first property - here are some pointers to help you find that great new home:
Finding a new home is a stressful time so any tips will help relieve that burden can only be a blessing and there are lots of things to help. Always do your research before you decide on an area, so you know what type of properties are available at what price to avoid paying over the odds. Make sure you keep in touch with local estate agents they know what's going on in the area. Get on their mailing lists for text messages of new properties.
Decide where you would like to live - will it be in the country, a village town, or city? Do you want Old or New Property? Are there good schools , public transport and local amenities - a good website is: Up My Street which has everything you could want to know about an area - from property prices, the neighbourhood's favourite newspaper to local amenities. What size garden do you need/want? Are you prepared to modernise or do renovation work? Have a walk around the surrounding area to see what it's like. Once you've made a decision on a property you would like to purchase, visit it at different times of day to check there are any problems. Check the area is not affected by any enviromental issues such as being in a flood area, a good place to to check this is the Environment Agency or Home Check Also check to see if there are any mobile phone stations nearby or electricity pylons as these may damage your health.
