Clever Cooking for One or Two
A great new book has just been launched entitled ‘Clever Cooking for One or Two’ by Dairy Diary which aims to minimize wastage by creating recipes that are for one or two people as opposed to families. There are also recipes where no food goes to waste as they are all suitable for freezing and ones designed to make the most out of one particular food – for instance 3 recipes designed around Butternut Squash to ensure you make the most out of everything you buy.
We've taken 3 recipes from the book:
This is a fantastic book with at least 65% of the British households being occupied by just one or two it offers quick and tasty recipes. It's often too easy to grab a ready-meal but these are often contain high amounts of additives, fat, salt and sugar. When you cook for yourself with fresh ingredients you then know exactly what you are eating. It is really worth making the effort to cook from scratch and often its much easier than you think .
All the recipes in the book are simple to prepare, with tips to help you and each one provides the calories and fat per portion.
One of the biggest frustrations with cooking or yourself is how much do I need - especially with the cost of food - no one likes throwing food away. Each recipe only uses fresh ingredients which you can buy in just the quantity you need (with a few from your cupboard) and that should last a few weeks.
