Gorgeous Bridal Hair

Gorgeous Wedding Day Hair by Channel 4’s 10 Years Younger Hair Expert Lisa Shepherd lisa_shepherd.jpg                                                Hair by Lisa Shepherd

If you've opted for a simple dress for your big day and want to add some wow to your hair, then this could be the style for you.

High shine, glossy curls, built up around the crown and finished off with a large flower creates a beautiful glamorous style. To achieve this you'll need to curl your hair with a good curling wand, try using two different sized barrels to create different types of curls throughout your hair.

Then separate your hair half way. With top section you need to pin this on top of your head to create volume at the crown. With the lower half, brush to one side and pin so that it stays on that side of your head. To finish attached your chosen hair accessory to the side of your head so that the ponytail doesn't fall.

This shows how you don't have to go over the top with curls on your big day. Large, soft, loose curls look much softer and create a much prettier, more natural look. It's lisa_shepherd1_1.jpgvery simple to achieve, with a bit of patience! Simply start by placing your tresses in large heated rollers. Once set, remove rollers and separate curls with your fingers. Add a few drops of serum to make your curls smooth and glossy.

You then need to pin your curls onto the crown of your head to create a gorgeous volume, almost bee hive effect...but much softer. Don't be scared to leave curls dropping out of your head, this will only add to the effect. Finish off the look with a tiara to add some glamour and then set with a firm hold hairspray.

Five Top tips for gorgeous wedding hair

1) Give your colour time to settle - If you colour your hair, have any retouching done at least 7 days before the wedding. This gives the colour time to settle, as you'll have washed it a few times. A touch of regrowth looks far more soft and natural than looking as if it's just been done.

2) Don't go over the top - When deciding what style to go for, it's always a good idea to play it safe and stay classically simple. Styles, colours and Trends change so quickly that if you choose a look that's too current or edgy, it can look dated very quickly.

3) Be Comfortable - It's also important when choosing a style or colour, that you'll feel comfortable with on the day. Your wedding day is about having fun and not about experimenting with your hair. You'll look much more beautiful if you look comfortable and relaxed with your style.

4) Stick to what you know - It's tempting to stray from your usual stylist for your wedding day as you want something special. However it's best to stick with your current stylist as they know you and your hair best. They know everything about your hair from texture to weight and will know what styles will work and what won’t.
5) Look at all the angles - It's important to take pictures of your chosen hairstyle from all angles. Get a friend to take your side profile and the back of your head. It's surprising how different hair looks and you may find that you don't like it from a side view.
