Set Your Goals
By Annie Ashdown – Life Coach and Hypnotherapist
A natural on TV, she was the obvious choice to front ‘Kyle’s Academy’ alongside Jeremy Kyle and Psychotherapist Derek Draper. The show proved very popular with audiences and commissioners alike and was on ITV 1 every weekday until 29th June. The show took 5 troubled souls and the experts worked with them over an intensive fortnight to help them on the road to a happier, more fulfilled life.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS:
First, of all I would like to ask you if you have any idea what your goals are? What do you want to happen in your life, this week, this month, this year, for the next five years? What issues would you like solved? What do you want to achieve? Where do you want to live? What do you want to earn? What changes do you want to make in yourself?
Keep it simple to start with, so you gain confidence in reaching small goals, get excited and want to set them regularly.
Do you want to:
* Loose weight? * Say ‘No’ more often * Look into changing careers * Learn a language * Have more fun time * Forgive someone * Form new friendships * Meet your ideal partner * Quit worrying * Quit smoking * Get fitter
I believe you can turn every aspect of your life into a goal. If you really want something, make it a goal. However firstly you need to take all ‘should’s out of your goals.
1) Decide what you want. Most people mess up at this first crucial step as they simply can’t see how it is possible to get what they want, so they don’t even go there. Believe you are worth having what you desire. Scientific research shows you must firstly be ultra clear on what you want, before your brain can figure out how to achieve it.
2) Find it within yourself to dream BIG. Stop limiting yourself. Go for it all. The moment you commit to a big dream and really go for it, your subconscious mind will come up with big ideas how to make it happen. You will start attracting the right people, resources and opportunities; you need to make your dream come true. BIG dreams inspire and motivate us. So start today by stepping out of your comfort zone.
3) Once you have clarity about what you want to achieve, you need to turn each goal into a measurable objective. By this, I mean in space and time. How much and by when? Your boss, your partner, your friends can’t mind read, so if you don’t voice exactly what it is you want, how do you expect it to materialise?
4) Write down your goals. Research at Harvard in the USA showed out of 500 people, the 350 who wrote down their goals achieved them. There is an amazing power in writing them rather than storing them in your mind. This also keeps you focused on what you want. To get really focused close your eyes daily and focus on one goal and ask yourself – what is the one thing I can do today that will take me towards this goal? Keep it simple. Write the answers and JUST DO IT! I suggest you write down a minimum of 3 goals in each of the following areas;
* Financial goals * Career/Business goals * Free time/Family and Friends time * Health/Weight/Nutrition * Relationship goals * Personal growth/Spirituality * Making a difference in the world

Celebrity fans of life coaching are said to include Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Cher, Robbie Williams, Madonna and Victoria Beckham who is allegedly seeking advice to manage the many different stressful elements of her life.
Annie is predominately a confidence coach, who works especially well with women. She offers practical tools for women to be assertive in a non-aggressive way, and helps them live up to their fullest potential.
Annie’s life philosophy is ‘Fuel your body, fuel your mind, be assertive, set goals, sort priorities in your life, schedule your time, learn to say No.....’
