The Heart of the Matter
Today o ver 1 Million Women have been diagnosed with Heart Problems in the UK -
SO WHY ARE WOMEN STILL NOT TAKING IT SERIOUSLY?
Did you know? You are four times more likely to die of Heart disease than Breast Cancer! Heart disease and diseases of the blood vessels together claim nearly twice as many women’s lives as all forms of cancer.1
The facts? The prevalence of coronary heart disease in women is increasing, but this is thought to be due to better diagnosis and women living longer.
Men have a one in six chance of developing furring of the arteries, women one in five. Women tend to be protected until 10 years after the menopause, so they tend to develop it 10 years later than men would. However, this gap narrows once women reach the age of 60 and as women tend to live longer than men it might mean there may soon be more women living with coronary heart disease than men.
Still with over a million women with heart problems - we need to know how to look after our hearts.
