Top Fashion Credit Crunchers
By Martine Alexander - a woman who followed her dreams of giving people the confidence to know they look good. Her clients include professionals, footballer’s wives, socialites and celebrities.
In case you’ve been living in a cave without the internet or a television for the last month, the January sales are in full swing, with stores slashing prices on a daily basis to get you part with your hard earned cash.
This month, for all your bargain-hunting Fashionistas, I’ve compiled a hit list of the top ‘must haves’ for Spring/Summer 2009 and where to get them right now at knocked down prices....
1 - Metallics Silver and gold were the two metallic’s highlighted this season, with Stella McCartney introducing a soft green to breathe softness into the trend and Calvin Klein going the full mile with A-Symmetrical dresses. If full metal doesn’t rock your world, then invest in some high shine metallic legging for a more subtle look. La dies beware – leggings are only for pins that are trim and shapely. 2 – Fringes Following on from Autumn/Winter, fringes and tassels took centre stage at Jil Sander, although this season, they don't just have to be vertical. Body-Con dresses adorned with fringes were massive, along with fitted dresses with fringes hitting the floor (make sure your floor is clean before getting dressed!) 3 - Jumpsuits Casual elegance is a key trend this season so if you like comfort then this trend should get your heart racing. Jumpsuits were a key piece last season and continue to play a vital part of Spring/Summer with Proenza Schouler leading the way on the catwalk. Team with a flat pump or a summer sandal to make the look bang on trend or a platform shoe for the more petite. Credit Cruncher: Top Shop: topshop.com Photo courtesy of Marcio Madeira
4 – Nudes Think of soft, romantic colours in white and dusky pink and you’re almost there. This season, soft fabrics, teamed with bold, statement accessories were all over the Burberry Prorsum and Emma Cook catwalks. If you’re wary of such pale colours, wear it at your slimmest part to create a slimmer silhouette Credit Cruncher: All Saints www.allsaintsshop.co.uk Photo courtesy of Marcio Madeira
5 – Neon Brights A trend not for the faint hearted! This season, think clashing colours. Orange and Cerise were the key colours to clash at Richard Nicoll and looked so amazing. If you prefer to keep it simple, opt for one colour and stick with it for a more subtle, yet bold look! 6 - Balloon Pants/Harem Pants A trend that most people have been quite scared of for the last six months but I’m afraid to say, it’s here to stay for the summer! Harem pants and longer length balloon pants were highlighted at Ralph Lauren. If you’re going to be brave and experiment, make sure you wear them with a fitted top to show off your figure.
