TOP TIPS TO A HEALTHIER HEART
- Exercise regularly 30 minutes 5 times a week – your heart is a muscle!
- If you smoke, stopping smoking is the single most effective thing you can do to reduce your risk of having a heart attack
- Cut down the alcohol (no more than 1 or 2 units a day)
- If you have diabetes reduce your other risk factors by avoiding smoking, eating healthily and controlling your weight
- Eat healthily a low fat diet with lots of fruit and vegetables and eat smaller portions
- Lose weight if you are over weight – get active!
- If you have family who have a history of coronary heart disease – reduce the other risk factors
- If you have high blood pressure or cholesterol work to reduce these
- Reduce stress levels if they are affecting your health
